Llwydcoed Band welcomes its newest signing

The Band is pleased to announce that it has filled its vacent BBb chair and welcomes Paul Baxter to its ranks ahead of the new contest season.

Paul signed for the band in time for the thrilling performance of Labour and Love at Welsh Area held last month at the Brangwyn Hall. Paul is yet another product of the Salvation Army brass band tradition to join Llwydcoed. He began playing in the Young Peoples band at London's Regent Hall corps and later moved to Bristol Citadel Band. He resumed playing after a move across the Severn Bridge with Cardiff Canton Salvation Army Band in 2000. When he's not banding Paul is a driving instructor with the BSM.

Gary Davies, Musical Director of the Band said, "We are stregthening the band ahead of the new contest season and a busy schedule that takes us to Harrogate in September. Paul has certainly made his presence felt in what is an already strong bass section."

The band's chairman, Kevin Johnson said, "We have been grateful to a number of players who have helped us out in recent months but a long term signing gives us the knowledge that we can progress even further. The band is becoming an even stronger unit and we are very much looking forward to Ebbw Vale and the kick off for what promises to be an exciting set of contests."

Llwydcoed Band are also looking to recruit an additional front bench cornet player and a leader for its percussion section. Further details of these roles can be found on the vacancies section of the website.
